Generation X encompasses 44 to 50 million Americans and marks the period of birth decline after the baby boom. It is significantly smaller than previous and succeeding generations. Members of this group are largely in their 30's and early 40's and are more ethnically diverse than previous generations. Over 60% of Gen Xers attended college and are independent and resourceful.
